In early 2023, a circle of friends brought together by their love of dance had an idea to create a space for adult dancers to collaborate and perform together. With each member bringing their unique talents, perspectives, and abilities to the table, Thistle & Thorn quickly evolved from an idea into a vibrant reality.

One of the defining features of Thistle & Thorn is their collaborative spirit. Recognizing the power of community and collaboration, they seek out partnerships with pipe bands, Celtic musical groups, and other artists. Together, they wish to blend traditional Highland dance with diverse musical genres, creating pieces that captivate audiences.

As of 2026, they have become a registered non-profit in the Province of BC under the name of Thistle & Thorn Highland Dance Association to keep their work alive for years to come.
